The Good, The Bad and The Truth…about Chemicals and Hair Loss

All too often when we hear about chemicals it’s when they’ve caused a problem. But the fact is chemicals are everywhere and in everything.

chemicals and hair loss

Chemicals are in both living and non-living matter – air, water, food, flowers, plants, hair, teeth and toothpaste. 2,000 chemicals are in tap water – most of them really good, over 4,000 in our blood, 11,000 and counting in food. There’s probably not a thing in our environment that is truly chemical free. Even emotions can generate a chemical reaction.

Most of the time chemicals do what they are supposed to and when used in the right way, they are safe and harmless. But if they get out of balance, too much or too little, they can affect us in ways that are not always nice. Losing your hair is a good example.

Hair loss is most frequently caused by a chemical imbalance: too much DHT (“bad” testosterone). DHT is also the main culprit behind an enlarged prostate, which in turn causes other problems. Today we know that there are ways to treat, or rebalance your biochemicals to reduce DHT and prevent it from doing harm. One way, many herbalists claim, is by using a chemical found in the common nettle root. They’ve proven it can block the effects of too much DHT to prevent hair loss and even help keep your prostate healthy.

The American Botanical Council has conducted a number of clinical trials which demonstrate the combination of Nettles, Saw Palmetto and Pygeum were found to successfully treat BPH (benign prostatic hypertrophy) which therefore can be extrapolated to also prevent hair loss, given both hereditary hair loss and BPH are side effects of elevated DHT levels. Nettle root is also a popular ingredient taken orally in a couple big name hair loss products such as Provillus and Procerin.

Now with a last name like Nettles, you’d think that I’d be a big fan of the value of the nettle root. I am. But like all natural or herbal supplements, there can be side effects. Nettle root has its fair share of warnings. When applied topically, irritation of the scalp or an allergic reaction can occur. When taken orally, it can cause upset stomach, burning, difficulty with urination, bloating and edema. And if you have heart or kidney problems, the root can cause fluid retention. So, what’s the answer?

My path to the answer included 25 years of research and study, plus 10 years of clinical trial and error. The result, a solution that has now proven to work every time: The Stop and Regrow Program for hair regrowth. How it works is in the name. We first stop hair loss and then regrow your hair. We guarantee it. We can do this because we first research your individual biochemistry and then prescribe your program based on what we need to do to rebalance your chemicals back to normal levels.

Frequent queries like "How to Block DHT Molecules" and "Things That Block DHT" underline a widespread belief that simply blocking DHT is a magic bullet for hair loss. However, a fundamental understanding of biochemistry and physics challenges this concept, reminding us that nothing in the universe, including DHT, simply disappears or is blocked without consequences.
